For a true south-east Asian experience, Malaysia is one of the best places to head to. The amount of adventure holidays in Malaysia are incredible thanks to a diverse mix of tropical jungles, huge caves, jagged mountains and raging rivers. There are deep-sea diving tours and many secure wildlife parks to see also.

The ancient culture mixed with high-tech, modernity is something that Malaysia is renowned for. There are two sections of Malaysia to choose from; the Borneo region or the Peninsula. Both have their fair share of adventure holiday activities to choose from but let's start with Borneo:

·    Get up close and personal with the Orang Utan apes that live in the jungle. These stunning creatures are friendly and are fascinating to watch and at the Sepilok Sanctuary, you can gasp at the sight of these orange-haired beasts.
·    If you love to go trekking the Borneo is home to the largest mountain in south-east Asia, Mount Kinabalu. Amazing rainforest stand at the foot of the 4,000m high mountain and make it even more interesting to hike through. At the summit, you can expect to see as far as the Philippines!

It is located in Kinabalu National Park

( a World Heritage Site )

in Sabah, East Malaysia 

on the island of Borneo in the tropics.

Low’s Peak ( 4,095m / 13,435ft ) is the summit, .

The mountain is the fourth highest in SE Asia

behind Hkakabo Razi  ( 5881m ) in Myanmar, 

Puncak Jaya ( 4884m ) and Puncak Trikora ( 4750m )

of Papua, Indonesia.

The mountain features extensive flora

and is one of the world’s most important biological sites.

Low's Peak can be easily climbed

without the use of climbing equipment. 


·    Deer Cave is must-see place. Hidden away in thick rainforest, there is a mile-long cave that is home to more than five million bats! You have tread carefully and sneak your way in to capture a good look at the sea of trembling cave-dwellers, and as it's based in the Mulu National Park, you have the opportunity to see many more weird and wonderful animals. The park is also home to the longest tree-canopy walkways, which keeps you away from the rainforest floor.

Although Peninsular ( Western ) Malaysia  is highly modernised and known for its trade, there are many adventure holidays in Malaysia that can be found. The Barisan Titiwangsa mountain range that runs down the spine of the country is a fantastic place to go white water rafting on the charging rivers, climb up the 'barrier' that splits east and west, and visit the many waterfalls that feed those rivers.

Looking out to the Andaman Sea, the western coast of Peninsula Malaysia offers a stunning selection of islands to visit, with the archipelago of Langkawi being the most popular. Scuba diving, snorkelling, free-diving and jet-skiing are all available here, and thanks to it being tax-free many holidaymakers head there to stock up on supplies.

Here are some more adventure-type things to do on Peninsula Malaysia:

·    Redang is another scuba diving island, that draws visitors from far and wide, thanks to the stunning white sandy beaches and clear seas.
·    The Taman Negara National Park is an enormous rainforest that covers a sizeable chunk of Malaysia and has tours to see macaques and hornbills or go whitewater rafting on the rapids of Anak Jelai River, Telom River or the calmer river of Jeram Besu.

As you can see, when you're looking for adventure holidays in Malaysia, there are lots to choose from and one thing is for sure, it'll be one of the most memorable times of your life!
